Peninsula College is honored to welcome X̱'unei Lance Twitchell, PhD to our virtual stage. Professor Twitchell will offer a lecture and discussion in the Little Theater on Peninsula College's Port Angeles campus and via Zoom.
X̱'unei Lance Twitchell holds a doctoral degree in Hawaiian and Indigenous Language and Culture Revitalization from Ka Haka ʻUla O Keʻelikōlani College of Hawaiian Language, University of Hawaii Hilo. He earned a BA in English & Minor in American Indian Studies from the University of Minnesota and completed a Masters in Fine Arts (MFA) from the University of Alaska Fairbanks.
His current projects include a column in the Juneau Empire, “Alaska Native Languages & Studies Column”; Alaska Native Languages & Studies Entries in the Huffington Post; Northwest Coast Native design projects; For the Love of Our Grandchildren: Tlingit Language & Knowledge Bearers, a film; Never Forgotten: The Story of Tlingit Veteran’s of Combat, a film; Beneath the Foot of the Sun, a book of poetry; Raven Speak, a play; Pebbles from the Beach, a screenplay; Coyote’s Song, a novel; as well as language curricula and other ongoing creative and scholarly works.
Dr. Twitchell’s awards include the “Top 40 Under 40” from The Alaska Journal of Commerce and the 2009 Alaska Native Visionary Award from the Alaska Native Heritage Month Committee, as well as a 2009 Vine Deloria Jr. Memorial Scholarship from the American Indian College Fund.
Along with joining in the Little Theater, guests are also invited to attend via Zoom.
