“America’s Classical Music” will be celebrated at the 10th Annual “Jazz on the Lawn” concert Monday, August 12 at noon, on Peninsula College’s Port Angeles campus. The concert will last approximately ninety minutes.
The PC Jazz Ensemble features Scott Sizer on vocals with an 11-piece jazz band. The group will perform music by Mary Lou Williams, Sammy Fain, Thelonious Monk, Art Blakey, John La Barbera, Tito Puente, Tina Brooks, Daniel Barry and two brand new originals by Dr. David P. Jones
As usual, the performers in this band represent some of the very best jazz that the North Olympic Peninsula has to offer. Representing Port Angeles are Tiffani Miller (violin), Bob Bailey (alto sax), Marge Rosen (trumpet), and David Jones (keyboards/director). Sequim provides with Andy Geiger (tenor sax), Tim Naples (bass trombone), Elaine Gardner-Morales (bass), and Nicia Pfeffer (drums). From Port Townsend are John Adams (alto & soprano saxes), and Scott Sizer (trumpet), while drummer Tor Brandes makes the trek all the way from Brinnon.
The show will take place on the terraced lawn just east of the Keegan Hall on the PC Campus. Concert goers are encouraged to bring a blanket or lawn chair and lunch. In the event of inclement weather, the concert will take place in the Pirate Union Building (PUB).
The event is free and open to the public.
