College Production of "Equus" Set for Mar. 1-3
Peninsula College will stage its winter theater production of the multi-award winning play, Equus, March 1, 2 and 3 in the Little Theater on the main campus in Port Angeles.The shows on March 1 and 2 will begin at 7:00 pm. The March 3 show will be a 2:00 pm matinee.
Equus was written by Peter Shaffer in 1973 and tells the story of a young man who brutally mutilated several horses. When a psychiatrist investigates, he uncovers dark truths about himself and his world.
Ticket prices are $15 general and $12 for seniors. Peninsula College students will be admitted free. Tickets may be purchased online at www.peninsulacollege.camp9.org.
When the play was staged in New York in 1975, it did so to great acclaim and captured that year’s Drama Desk Award for Outstanding New Foreign Play, the Tony Award for Best Play and the New York Drama Critics' Circle Award for Best Play.
In the 2009 reprisal of the play, Daniel Radcliffe of Harry Potter fame was nominated for a Drama Desk Awards Best Leading Actor in a Play for his role as the troubled young man.
Due to adult themes and situations, no one under 17 will be admitted.
