Join us February 8 for the second reading in the Winter Quarter Foothills Writers Series, when Peninsula College welcomes Rick Barot to the Maier Performance Hall stage.
Barot directs The Rainier Writing Workshop through Pacific Lutheran University, and is the poetry editor for New England Review. His fourth book of poems, The Galleons, is forthcoming from Milkweed Editions.
Barot was born in the Philippines and raised in the San Francisco Bay area. His three volumes of poetry, The Darker Fall (2002), Want (2008), and Chord (2015), were published by Sarabande Books. Chord received the UNT Rilke Prize, the PEN Open Book Award, and the Publishing Triangle’s Thom Gunn Award. He has received fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation, the National Endowment for the Arts, and Stanford University.
The Foothills Writers Series hosted Washington State Poet Laureate Claudia Castro Luna in January, and will feature two more readings this winter: Michael Calvin Mills on February 22 and a reading and conversation between poets Alice Derry and Charlotte Gould Warren on March 8.
The event is free and open to the public.
