Adult soccer, volleyball, and basketball leagues will get under way at Peninsula College over the next month.
The Peninsula Soccer League kicks off Sunday, September 25, with matches throughout the day. The teams and schedules are set, but there may be room for additional players by contacting league director Jake Hughes at firstname.lastname@example.org. The league will play on Sundays at Wally Sigmar Field through early November.
The Peninsula Volleyball League, an indoor coed league for adults 16 and over, gets under way the week of October 17 at the Peninsula College gym. Matches will take place on Tuesday and Thursday evenings with teams in two divisions. Each division is open to the first eight paid teams. The fee is $400 per team. Captains can reserve their spot by contacting league director Rick Ross at email@example.com.
The Peninsula Basketball league will also get underway in October. Games will be on Monday and Wednesday evenings at Peninsula College. This league is open to the first eight paid teams. The entry fee is $400. Contact league director Donald Rollman at firstname.lastname@example.org to reserve your spot.
Details about all three leagues are available at the Pirate Athletics website at gopcpirates.com/community-events.
The adult leagues for soccer, volleyball, and basketball were run by the City of Port Angeles Parks & Recreation, and in collaboration with Peninsula College, for many years. Those leagues were moved to PC in their entirety in 2021. The proceeds from these leagues go to support Pirate soccer and basketball programs.
“Our coaches work very hard to build championship caliber teams every year and the revenue from these adult leagues plays a big part in the growing cost of recruiting,” said Rick Ross, associate dean for athletics and student life. “The leagues not only help our program, but obviously contribute to the need for adult recreation in our community. We’re hoping the participants will recognize that and go easy on our athletes who officiate the games.”
