In a time when so many cultural events are being cancelled, PC’s Art and Multimedia Communications departments decided to do what artists do best: get creative.
The Olympic Peninsula High School Student Art Exhibition at Peninsula College was a juried competition available to high school students living on the Olympic Peninsula who make 2-D or 3-D art. The college received 93 entries and had originally planned to have an exhibition in the PUB Gallery of Art in April. Due to COVID-19 the exhibition was cancelled, however, the Art and Multimedia Communication departments decided to select awards from the digital images of the entries received.
“We wanted to find a way to move forward during the pandemic and acknowledge the artistic accomplishments of high school art programs and their students,” PC Art Professor Michael Paul Miller said. “During this time of social distancing the arts can play a big role in bringing beauty, comfort, and inspiration to others.”
Images of the award winning artworks may be found on the PUB Gallery of Art Facebook page at https://bit.ly/2SCLctt.
