Vaillant, and award-winning science and nature writer is best known for his book, The Golden Spruce, A True Story of Myth, Madness and Greed, which won the Governor General Literary Award for nonfiction, British Columbia’s National Award for Canadian nonfiction. Vaillant also wrote other bestselling books, including The Tiger: A True Story of Vengeance and Survival, which won the RBC Taylor Prize for Nonfiction and the Governor General’s Literary Award for Nonfiction.
