Graduation | Commencement 2014
Peninsula College will observe its 52nd Commencement ceremony on Saturday, June 14, when it awards degrees and certificates to graduates. Commencement exercises will be held in the college gymnasium on the main campus in Port Angeles, beginning at 2:00 p.m. A reception will immediately follow.
The Commencement keynote speaker is Congressman Derek Kilmer.
The Port Angeles High School Orchestra will perform before and during the ceremony, and members of the PC Jazz Ensemble will perform at the reception in the PUB following commencement.
Guests are advised to arrive early. The doors will open at 1:00 pm. Should the gymnasium fill, overflow seating will be available in Room A-12 with a video stream of the event.
For family or friends who are unable to attend the ceremony but would still like to be a part of the occasion, the college will provide a live video stream. The internet telecast will be available at the Peninsula College website on UStream at http://www.ustream.tv/channel/peninsula-college.
Graduation at Peninsula College is a three-step process consisting of:
- Submitting an Degree/Graduation Application form.
- Completing all academic requirements for your degree.
- Settling all financial obligations.
If you have not filled out the Degree/Graduation Application, please do so immediately or contact your student advisor with any questions.
Individuals should apply for graduation one quarter in advance of the quarter they anticipate graduating. The Degree/Graduation Application, with any approved substitutions signed by a program advisor, should be submitted online or returned to Student Services as soon as possible in the quarter. Student Services will perform a final review authorizing graduation or pointing out any deficiencies that must be overcome.
Cap and Gown
If you missed the opportunity to pre-order your cap and gown, the Bookaneer (book store) will have caps and gowns available for purchase at the Grad Fair, set for 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on June 5 in the Peninsula College PUB. That event is also where grads will pick up their four graduation tickets. Put those tickets in a very safe place. It may not be possible to replace them if they are lost. Please plan on limiting your guest list to four and encouraging others to view the event via streaming video and then join you for a celebration after. Seating in the Pirate gym is limited.
The total price for the cap and gowns include a tassel and diploma cover (that will be handed at you during the ceremony).
