Graduation | Commencement 2015

Peninsula College will observe its 53rd Commencement ceremony on Saturday, June 20, when it awards degrees and certificates to graduates. Commencement exercises will be held in the college gymnasium on the main campus in Port Angeles beginning at 2:00 p.m. A reception will immediately follow.
The Commencement Keynote Speakers:
Keynote Speaker Andy Geiger, a Port Angeles resident and National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics hall of fame member. Geiger worked for 36 years as an athletic director for several institutions including Ohio State, Brown University and Stanford. In 2012-13 he served a one year term as interim Athletic Director at the University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. The Sports Business Journal named him “Athletic Director of the Year” in 2003 and he received the John L. Toner Award from the National Football Foundation the same year. In 2009 he was honored with the Homer Rice Award from the NCAA Division I Athletic Directors Association. Geiger is also a long-time member of the PC Jazz Ensemble where he plays the saxophone.
Student Speaker Nicole Perez, of San Antonio, Texas, graduated with an Associate of Science Degree and plans to pursue a BA in Elementary in Education. She currently has a 3.75 GPA. Student speakers are nominated and then voted on by the Student Affairs Committee.
The Port Angeles High School Orchestra will perform before and during the ceremony. A reception will follow in the Pirate Union Building (PUB).
Guests are advised to arrive early. The doors will open at 1:00 pm. Should the gymnasium fill, overflow seating will be available in Room A-12 with a video stream of the event.
Graduation at Peninsula College is a three-step process consisting of:
- Submitting an Degree/Graduation Application form.
- Completing all academic requirements for your degree.
- Settling all financial obligations.
If you have not filled out the Degree/Graduation Application, please do so immediately or contact your student advisor with any questions.
Individuals should apply for graduation one quarter in advance of the quarter they anticipate graduating. The Degree/Graduation Application, with any approved substitutions signed by a program advisor, should be submitted online or returned to Student Services as soon as possible in the quarter. Student Services will perform a final review authorizing graduation or pointing out any deficiencies that must be overcome.
Cap and Gown
Once your Degree/Graduation Application has been received and approved, you will receive a confirmation email with an online link to purchase your cap and gown. You can receive a $10.00 discount if you purchase your cap and gown package online between April 20 - May 4th, 2015. If you miss the opportunity to pre-order your cap and gown, the Bookaneer (book store) will have caps and gowns available for purchase at the Graduation Fair.
The Graduation Fair is scheduled this year for June 9th, from 11:00am - 3:00pm in the PUB. This event is also where graduates will pick up their FOUR graduation tickets. Put those tickets in a very safe place. It may not be possible to replace them if they are lost. Please plan on limiting your guest list to four and encouraging others to view the event via streaming video and then join you for a celebration after the ceremony. Seating in the Pirate gym is limited.
* The package price for the cap and gowns include a tassel and diploma cover (that will be handed at you during the ceremony).
