Work-Study Program

2021-2022 Work-Study Notice to Students & Supervisors

Remote work in the Work Study program continues to be allowable in 2021-22 as long as Work Study students continue to be able to perform their necessary job functions remotely and have as much remote supervision as possible. This means having a reasonable and regular level of direct communication with their supervisor around daily tasks, productivity expectations, dealing with questions or problems that may have come up while they are working remotely, etc.

Students must be able to work either on-campus or remotely to be eligible for work study funds.

Per Governor Inslee’s Proclamation 21-14, current state employees must be fully vaccinated no later than October 18, 2021. This applies to work study students as they are employees of the college. Your vaccine status will be verified.  Please reach out to the HR Office at pchr@pencol.edu if you need information on requesting a medical or religious accommodation.

2021-2022 Work-Study

Work-study programs offer students the opportunity to gain valuable work experience while earning money for college. Both on-campus and off-campus positions are usually available.

In order to receive work-study funds, students must meet all of the following eligibility requirements:

  • Be eligible to work in the U.S.
  • Be eligible for Federal and/or State financial aid
(This means they must be either a WA State resident or a U.S. citizen (having a Social Security Number) or eligible non-citizen (having an Alien Registration Number.)
  • Indicate on the FAFSA that they are interested in the work-study program (or notify the Work Study Coordinator)
  • Complete their Financial Aid file on time
  • Be enrolled at least half-time (6 or more credits)
  • Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress
  • Apply to, and be hired for a work-study position
A list of offered positions is available online here; this is only for students who have been awarded/offered work-study funds for the 2021-2022 academic year.

Due to the fact that work-study funds are limited for the 2021-2022 school year, not all students that indicated their interest in work-study will be awarded. Please email the Work Study Coordinator Elizabeth Griswold at EGriswold@pencol.edu if you wish to apply for a work study job but don't have work study funds offered yet.

If you have been awarded work-study funds, please visit this page for additional information.
