Tutoring

Peninsula College's Learning Center

The Learning Center is open to students at all levels and abilities working on projects for any class (including online and WAOL courses) in any discipline. We're creating better students, not just better assignments.

Math Lab

9:10am - 3:40pm, M-F, E141, (360) 417-6365,

The Math Lab is a drop-in tutoring center for assistance in mathematics.

Writing Response (room B-137)

Beginning Oct 8, 2018: Monday 11:00am-2:00pm, Tu/Wed/Th 9:00am-2:00pm, Fri 9:00am-12:00pm, B-137
Contact: John Anderson at (360) 797-5702 or call the Writing Lab directly at (360) 417-6361

During a 30 minute response session we will discuss your paper's strengths and weaknesses, focusing first on larger issues such as clarifying ideas, developing and supporting those ideas, structuring them for readability and coherence, and using mechanics (grammar and punctuation) for clarity. We can also help you understand an assignment's expectations and generate ideas before you begin your writing.

Research & Writing Lab (E-137)

By Appointment

Summer Quarter: Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday from 9:00am - 2:00pm
Contact: John Anderson at (360) 797-5702 or call the Writing Lab directly at (360) 417-6361

The Research and Writing Lab is open to all students engaged in writing projects in any discipline who would like a place to work independently. The computers have Microsoft Office and internet access; a number of writing handbooks are available; and students have access to a printer.

Peer Tutoring (Library B138)

One-on-one tutoring in all subjects except Math and English (for Math and English, go to the Math Lab in E141 or to Writing Response in B137)
One-on-one tutoring for other courses is subject to tutors' and tutees' schedules.

Contact: Kate Goschen at (360) 417-7973 or kgoschen@pencol.edu

Tutoring is available to students at any level and ability free of charge.

The following types of tutoring are available in the Learning Center:
