Recreation at PC takes many forms. Learn more about our open gym, intramural sports, club sports and physical fitness opportunities.
Fitness Center and Gym Hours
Due to the world-wide pandemic, the Fitness Center is closed until further notice. The facility was constructed and opened in 2010 following a student body vote for a construction fee. That fee will continue to be collected until the building is paid off. The center has never charged a user fee to students.
All Recreation activities listed below are on hold until the campus reopens.
Fitness Center: The center is open to students and employees only. Hours vary by quarter, but typically are Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fall, Winter and Spring. Summer Quarter hours are often more limited. Students will use their PC student ID card to swipe the door unlock mechanism to access the center.
Gym: The gym is open to students and employees only. Hours vary by quarter.
Pirate Performance Center: This is a power lifting room. It is open to students and employees only - and access is limited to those approved by the Recreation Coordinator (office in the gym).
Open Gym Sports Activities
Open gym sports are open to students, employees and Pirate Athletic Association members. Sports typically include basketball, indoor soccer and volleyball. Peninsula will offer open gym activities from 10:30-1:30, Tuesday-Friday, although time varies from quarter to quarter depending on PE classes and Intramural leagues.
Intramural Sports
Intramural sports leagues are held Tuesday-Friday from 12:35-1:20. They typically include indoor soccer in the fall, basketball in the winter and outdoor soccer in the spring. Registration forms are available at the Recreation/Men's Basketball Office in the gym. Intramural sports are open to students, employees and PAA members, men and women. There is no fee to participate. Contact the Recreation Coordinator (office in the gym).
