Tutoring Center—General Academic Support

The Tutoring Center offers one-on-one tutoring for subjects other than math or English. Students are encouraged to request a tutor with the form below if they feel they could benefit from support. Tutoring is for everyone—whether you're struggling or excelling. Students at all levels can benefit from talking through concepts and learning strategies with a tutor.

Please consider submitting the Tutor Request Form early. Availability depends on the course and on tutor staffing. We’ll do our best to quickly recruit new tutors to meet student needs if we don't have a current tutor for your subject.

Tutoring Information

  • Many of our tutors are PC students or graduates who excelled in the same courses and love helping others succeed.
  • Tutoring is available in person or via Zoom, depending on tutor availability and your preference.
  • Students may receive up to 15 hours of tutoring per class, per quarter, depending on tutor availability.

  • eTutoring provides live virtual tutoring most days of the week with expanded hours that include early morning, late evening, and weekends.
  • Tutoring is free and available for many subjects.
  • Submit eQuestions and upload papers to receive feedback.

What to Expect from Tutoring

Tutoring is a collaborative, interactive process that requires equal participation from both student and tutor.

Tutor Responsibilities: Student Responsibilities:
  • Show up on time ready to work
  • Accommodate students’ learning goals and style
  • Help students identify strengths and find resources
  • Answer questions about course content
  • Explain strategies, processes, and approaches
  • Facilitate independent learning
  • Show up on time ready to work
  • Complete assigned reading, review learning materials, and look over assignments beforehand
  • Bring specific questions or goals to the session
  • Attempt class work independently first
  • Attend class, do all assigned reading, watch assigned videos, and review all class learning materials
  • Take responsibility for your own work and learning and continue working after the session to finish assignments

If you receive accommodations through Access Services, please ask them to share your tutoring accommodations with the Learning Center Coordinator.

How to Become a Paid Tutor

Teaching is a fabulous way to increase your own understanding of a subject. Get paid to help other students while enhancing your own learning. If you are strong in one or more subjects, and you’re interested in a paid tutoring position, please share your interest.
