Dear Campus Community,
As we approach one year of remote teaching and learning, I’d like to take a moment to once again applaud your resiliency and perseverance. When we began this race last March, most of us believed we were in a sprint; a year later, we realize that we’ve been running a marathon. Most of us have had a stumble or two along the way, and we’re all weary. Despite that, you continue to help our students succeed. Thank you for your dedication to our collective work of teaching and learning, and congratulations on completing winter quarter!
Soon it will be spring break, and I hope you’ll be able to relax, unplug from Zoom, and recharge a bit. Clallam and Jefferson County health officers are asking us all to please consider only local travel or recreation during spring break. While our current rate of infection is very low, the risk of traveling to hot spots and bringing the virus back home is very real. If you choose to travel out of state, it is our expectation that you will follow the Governor’s recommendation to quarantine for 14 days upon return.
In the interest of returning to campus as soon as we safely can, I’d like to encourage you and your family members to get a vaccination when it’s your turn. To find your vaccine phase, visit: https://form.findyourphasewa.org/210118771253954
It’s been a challenging year, and spring quarter will be upon us before we know it. But I believe that hope is on the horizon. This spring, we’ll engage in conversation and planning for a return to more on campus teaching and learning opportunities through the summer and especially in the fall. We have been running a grueling marathon, but I’m optimistic that the finish line is not too far ahead. Until we see it more clearly, be well, stay safe, and have a restful spring break!
Sincerely,
Luke Robins
