The Campus Safety office is located in the central part of campus, in the Pirate Union Building (P.U.B), room J-25. Campus Safety has a non-commissioned security force who patrol the campus on motorized vehicles and foot.
Campus Safety is not authorized to make arrests, and therefore, we maintain an active relationship with state and local law enforcement agencies. When the need arises, the college will contact the Port Angeles Police Department for assistance.

Peninsula College is devoted to providing a sustainable parking solution.
Recent changes to the parking lot reflect this devotion with the addition of catch basins for water runoff, an improved storm drainage/collection system and water collection islands added throughout the parking lot. Some of these changes have resulted in a more crowded parking area and it has also reduced the overall number of spaces available for parking. To counteract this loss of spaces Peninsula College has chosen to promote more efficient means of transportation with the addition of 20 carpool spaces for students and faculty.
Parking Hang Tags:
All students and employees of Peninsula College that use the college parking areas are required to display a Peninsula College issued hang tag. Hangtags are available from the Campus Safety Office J-25 located in the PUB, and at Pirate Central located in the clocktower.
Carpool Parking:
In support of environmental sustainability efforts, Peninsula College offers a carpool program to reduce the number of single-occupant vehicular trips to the main campus. A carpool is a group of three or more individuals who travel in one vehicle to the main campus. Peninsula College will be open on all scheduled work days unless, in the judgment of the College President, or a designated administrator, it is determined that maintaining the work schedule would constitute a real and present danger to the safety and welfare of the college employee, or conditions make it impossible to continue the regular work day (Board Policy 265).
Campus Closure or Late Start:
The College President or designee may declare a “Closure” or “Late Start”
- It is determined that maintaining the class schedule would constitute a real and present danger to safety and welfare.
- If weather conditions are severe enough to prevent a substantial number of commuting students, faculty and staff from arriving at campus.
- If weather conditions make it impossible to continue the regular work day.
For your safety and the safety of others, during a College closure classes will be canceled and College Operations will be suspended for the duration of the closure. Buildings will remain locked and on limited emergency power.

Extension Sites:
Due to differing geographical and weather conditions, our extension sites may close or remain open independently from the main campus announcement. This decision will be made by the College President or designee. Extension sites include Forks, Port Townsend, CRTC, and the Lincoln Center sites. Extension site closures notifications will be communicated the same way as the main campus.
Snow Priorities:
Main Campus: Snow will be cleared in a prioritized manner. Emergency access routes, primary pedestrian routes, vehicular drives and parking lots are the first priority. These areas will be addressed simultaneously, expanding pathways as conditions allow. Special attention will be paid to ADA access; these areas are maintained on a continual basis and have first priority. The parking areas South and West of building M (Keegan Hall) and building K (AHECDC) are nonessential and will be second priority. Minimal use walks and roads are not priority and may be cleared last or not at all.
Nonessential/Second Priority Areas: For all conditions, secondary priority areas will be blocked off until first priority areas are clear and safe for travel. Signs will be placed to direct traffic to alternate routes in these areas:

Peninsula College provides free digital ID cards to students who wish to have one. The ID can be used for admission to student activities and sports events, accessing free ridership on Clallam Transit's Strait Shot and Hurricane Ridge routes, as well as free access to our fitness center, and discounts at participating merchants.

The products below are provided free of charge by Peninsula College in compliance with HB 2112 (2023-24). Please only take what you need as supplies are limited. If the naloxone or fentanyl test strips have run out, please contact Campus Safety at (360 )417-6559 or campussafety@pencol.edu.
Naloxone: Naloxone is a medicine that temporarily stops the effect of opioids. This helps a person start to breathe again and wake up from an opioid overdose. Naloxone (the generic name) is also sold under the brand names Narcan®. You should always contact 9-1-1 if you suspect someone is overdosing.
Fentanyl Test Strips: Test strips can tell you if your drugs contain fentanyl but not how much fentanyl there is or how strong it is.

- Stop Sexual Harassment

Peninsula College recognizes its responsibilities for investigation, resolution, implementation of corrective measures, and monitoring the education environment and workplace to stop, remediate, and prevent discrimination, including sexual harassment.
Sexual harassment is conduct that:
- Is sexual in nature,
- Is unwelcome, and
- Denies or interferes with education, employment, or access to college programs and activities.
Sexual harassment can take different forms. The conduct can be carried out by college employees, students, or visitors. Any gender can be victims of sexual harassment. The harasser and the victim can be of the same gender.
Sexual harassment also includes conduct that is criminal in nature, such as rape, sexual assault, dating violence, and sexually motivated stalking, bullying, or cyberbullying. The conduct can occur in any college program, event, or activity, on or off campus. The conduct can be physical, verbal, or nonverbal. When unwelcome sexual conduct is serious enough or pervasive enough, it becomes sexual harassment.
Sexual Harassment may include:
- Pressure for dates
- Sexual phone calls, voice messages, texts, or emails
- Making sexual propositions
- Requests for sex in exchange for higher grades or favorable employment decisions
- Leering, ogling, or staring
- Touching of a sexual nature
- Touching oneself sexually in front of others
- Telling sexual or dirty jokes
- Spreading sexual rumors
How can I take action?
- Don’t ignore it. Pay attention to cues, comments, instincts, and experiences. Address unwanted contact immediately.
- Say no. Tell the person that the conduct is unwanted. Tell them to stop it.
- Report it and/or tell someone. If you are a student, tell a teacher, a counselor, a college administrator, or the Human Resource Director. If you are an employee, tell your supervisor, a union representative, a college administrator, or the Human Resource Director. They will advise you of the college process.
Which college official is designated to coordinate compliance with federal laws concerning sexual harassment?
The Director for Human Resources has oversight of the College’ s compliance with Title IX, the federal regulation that prohibits sexual harassment. The Human Resource Office is in the “C” Building and the Human Resource Director’s phone number is (360) 417-6212.

Does the College have an official procedure?
Yes. The College has an official policy and procedure. It is outlined in WAC 132A-350-015 and WAC 132A-350-020. You may also receive a printed copy from the Title IX Coordinator.
Who should report?
Any person who believes that he or she has been the subject of discrimination or sexual harassment may file a complaint.
How does the College respond to a complaint?
The College takes any complaint about discrimination or sexual harassment very seriously and will investigate the complaint in a prompt, thorough, and impartial manner. The purpose of the investigation is to determine whether the discrimination or sexual harassment/violence occurred. The College respects the rights of both the complainant and the person(s) addressed in the complaint.
Depending on the facts of the situation, the College may proceed with actions consistent with its due process procedures, Office of Civil Rights guidance, personnel policies, collective bargaining agreements, and Student Rights and Responsibilities Code. While an investigation is under way and/or as part of its resolution, the College may takes steps to prevent the person(s) addressed in the complaint from contact with the complainant. If the behavior may be criminal, you have the right to file a criminal complaint. This will not delay the College in doing its own work to resolve the complaint promptly and equitably.
What about retaliation?
The College prohibits any form of retaliation against a complainant, a respondent, or a witness. Any allegation of retaliation will result in an immediate investigation and appropriate action to stop the retaliation.
What are some examples of retaliation?
Retaliation is any adverse action taken because you complained or a person thinks you complained. For example:
- Lowering your grade
- Poor performance rating
- Changing work duties or assignments
- Exclusion from meetings
- Not being called on in class
- Change of work scheduled
- Being threatened
Suppose drugs or alcohol are involved?
Sometimes people are afraid to complain about sexual harassment or violence because drugs or alcohol were involved. The College’s highest priority is your safety and the safety of everyone on campus. The use of alcohol or drugs never makes the victim at fault for sexual violence.

This Peninsula College 2023-2024 Annual Security & Fire Safety Report is published in compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure Act of Campus Security and Campus Crime Statistics Act (“Clery Act”), and Violence Against Women Act (VAWA). Peninsula College ASFSR 2024–25
For full details and descriptions, please visit the Department of Education's Campus Safety and Security Data Analysis Cutting Tool. This analysis cutting tool was designed to provide rapid customized reports for public inquiries relating to campus crime and fire data. The data are drawn from the OPE Campus Safety and Security Statistics website database to which crime statistics and fire statistics (as of the 2010 data collection) are submitted annually, via a web-based data collection, by all postsecondary institutions that receive Title IV funding (i.e., those that participate in federal student aid programs). This data collection is required by the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and the Higher Education Opportunity Act.
A paper copy of the Annual Security Report & Fire Safety Report (ASFSR) can be obtained at one of three locations at Peninsula College's Port Angeles campus: Pirate Central (Building D), Campus Safety (Building J), or at Human Resources (Building C).
