Dear East Jefferson County Students,
We want to share an important update about Peninsula College’s presence at Fort Worden—and more importantly, what comes next for you.
After careful consideration, Peninsula College will no longer operate a physical campus in Port Townsend beginning this fall. This difficult decision is part of a broader effort to address a $2.2 million budget deficit for the 2025–26 academic year.
While this means we won’t be offering in-person classes at Fort Worden, we are absolutely committed to continuing to serve students in East Jefferson County—including you.
What this means for you:
✅ You can still take classes at Peninsula College.
Instruction will continue through online, hybrid, and other ways, including professional/technical training brought directly to all corners of the community through a grant-funded mobile lab.
✅ Student services and support are still here for you.
We’ll continue to provide academic advising, financial aid support, and wraparound services – just not at the Fort Worden location.
If you’ve already advised for Fall:
If you had planned to take classes at Fort Worden this fall, we encourage you to meet with an advisor to review your plan and explore your updated options. Our team is ready to help.

If you haven’t advised yet:
Please make an appointment soon so we can help you plan for fall quarter and ensure a smooth transition.
This shift does not change our mission—it challenges us to deliver on it in new and better ways. We are not leaving Jefferson County—we’re meeting students where they are with more flexibility, more access, and stronger support. We know this is a big change, and we’re here to support you every step of the way. Thank you for being part of the Peninsula College community.
With appreciation,
Anna Forrestal
