- Ability To Benefit (ATB)
If you filed a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) or a WASFA (WA Application for State Financial Aid) and you do not have a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent, you can still qualify for financial aid by completing one of the Ability to Benefit options listed below.
Option 1: Take the ATB version of the ACCUPLACER placement test offered through the Testing Center. If you successfully pass all sections of the test, provide a copy of your test results to the Financial Aid Office. You can then enroll in a financial aid-eligible program and your financial aid eligibility will be reviewed.
Option 2: Register, pay for, and successfully complete 6 or more credits of a program within one quarter. Follow-up with the Financial Aid Office once grades are posted for the quarter you completed. Your financial aid eligibility will be reviewed and you may receive funds for subsequent quarters of enrollment within the approved program.
Option 3: Co-enroll in both the High School+ program and in a financial aid-eligible program/degree which qualifies as an I-Best program. For more info on the High School+ program, please visit: https://pencol.edu/high-school-programs/high-school
