- Requirements For Accepted Nursing Students
After being accepted into the Nursing program at PC you’ll need to meet the below additional requirements before beginning course work during fall quarter.
Failure to follow-through with the instructions and meet deadlines provided on the acceptance letter may result in ineligibility to enter the program.
The following are required prior to July 15th of the admission year:
- Submit letter notification of intent to attend by July 15th. A signed reply to the letter (by July 15th) is required to retain admissions status. This will be the only correspondence you will receive prior to first day of class. Please retain this letter, as it will contain important information about registration, your class schedule and deadlines for completing final admission requirements.
- Submit letter indicating book purchase preference by July 15th.
The following are required prior to September 1st of the admission year:
- Documentation of TB test submitted prior to September 1. The TB test should be dated between mid-June and August 15 so that it will be current through the first nursing program academic year. Even if you have previously submitted a TB test, you must provide one that meets this requirement. Submit this electronically in an email (directions will be provided in the letter you will be sent on selection for admission).
- Documentation of 3rd hepatitis immunization submitted prior to September 1. Remember the titer will be due by September 30.
- The ability to successfully clear a criminal history background check in accordance with RCW 74.42.620 and 18.51.070. A clear record is required prior to any clinical courses through Peninsula College. Additionally, the Washington State Board of Nursing may deny a license to any person who has been convicted of any "crime(s) against persons" or "crime(s) relating to financial exploitation" per RCW 43.43.830. Students must obtain and provide a current (dated between mid-June and August 15, 2015) required criminal background history. Directions will be provided with the admission letter. (Do not submit hardcopy- we will check this electronically.)
- Obtain a Peninsula College email address and activate to connect to Canvas.
- Review required Canvas documents as stated in acceptance letter.
- Complete any additional requirements as stated in the acceptance letter.
- Insurance requirements
- Professional Liability Insurance is required and paid for at the time of registration for Nursing 101 and 201. This covers the insurance requirement for the remaining part of the year.
- Personal illness and accident insurance is required for each nursing student. Neither the clinical facility nor Peninsula College is responsible for the cost of medical care injury or illness occurring as a result of classroom, lab or clinical activity. The student’s personal illness and accident insurance is responsible for such costs.
8. Submit documentation of Health Care Provider CPR by September 1.
