Peninsula College offers grants which are a form of financial aid and are considered “gift aid” because the student does not have to repay the funds as long as they are meeting the conditions of the award. Grants are awarded by the federal government, state agencies, colleges, and private organizations to help cover educational expenses. Most grants are based on financial need, academic performance, or other specific eligibility criteria.
To be considered for grants, you'll need to complete either the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the Washington Application for State Financial Aid (WASFA).
Conditions of Award Apply for Financial Aid
Federal Grants
- Federal Pell Grant
-
The Federal Pell Grant Program offers need-based financial aid to undergraduate students who demonstrate exceptional financial need. The amount you receive depends on your financial need, the cost of attendance at your school, and your enrollment intensity.
While you can transfer your Pell Grant to different school, you cannot receive Pell Grant funds from more than one school during the same enrollment period.
The amount of Federal Pell Grant funds a student may receive over their lifetime is limited by a federal law to be the equivalent of six years of Pell Grant funding. Since the maximum amount of Pell Grant funding a student can receive each year is 100%, the six-year equivalent is 600%. Please note that Pell Grant funding is only eligible for up to three quarters of full-time enrollment per academic year; if you receive full-time Pell Grant funding during summer quarter, you may not be eligible for Pell Grant funding in spring quarter.
- Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG)
-
The Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG) helps cover educational costs that aren't fully met by the Pell Grant. Because funding is limited, FSEOG is typically awarded to students with exceptional financial need who meet the priority funding deadlines.
State Grants
- Washington College Grant (WCG)
-
The Washington College Grant (previously known as the Washington State Need Grant/SNG) provides guaranteed college funding to all eligible residents of Washington state, including low- and middle-income students.
- College Bound Scholarship (CBS)
-
The College Bound Scholarship is an early commitment of state financial aid to eligible students who enroll in middle school and meet the pledge requirements. The College Bound Scholarship covers average tuition at public college rates, some fees, and a small book allowance at over 65 colleges, universities, and technical schools in Washington.
- Passport to Careers Scholarship
-
The Passport to Careers program helps students from foster care and unaccompanied homeless youth attend and succeed in college, apprenticeships, and pre-apprenticeship programs.
- Opportunity Grant
-
The Opportunity Grant program helps low-income students complete up to one year of college and a certificate in a high-wage, high-demand career.
You may choose to voluntarily make financial contributions to Washington Student Achievement Council (WSAC) in recognition of the assistance that you received. All voluntary contributions will be used to provide financial assistance to other students. Please contact finaid@wsac.wa.gov for more information.
You may be eligible for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and can apply for benefits through the Washington Connection online portal (www.washingtonconnection.org) or in-person at a local Department of Social and Health Services office. You can also receive assistance in applying and be connected to additional resources by contacting the Basic Food, Employment & Training (BFET) staff at 360-417-6296.
Institutional Grants
Note: Students must be enrolled in 6+ credits to be eligible for institutional grants.
- Peninsula College (PC) Grant
-
- Tuition Waiver Grant
-
The Tuition Waiver Grant is only available in the form of a tuition payment and students may not receive the funds directly.
Grants cannot be used to set up bookstore accounts to directly pay for books and other course materials. Only if the ebook/course materials fee is added to the student's charges/fees on their student account for the term, then the charge can be covered by the student's grant funds.
