
Peninsula College’s Magic of Cinema is honored to collaborate again with Clallam Mosaic and host the fifth annual ALL-IN Film Festival, a free, inclusive film event featuring movies by and about individuals with diverse abilities. The event is co-sponsored by Peninsula College’s Studium Generale and Access Services.
The ALL-IN Film Festival will be held on Friday, October 18, at 6:30 p.m., and Saturday, October 19, at 1:00 p.m., in Peninsula College’s Little Theater. If you are not able to join the festival in person, please join us via Zoom; Meeting ID: 853 6414 2183
Eight of this year’s films come from Sproutflix, a distributor that houses the largest collection of films featuring people with diverse abilities.
ALL-IN will screen the following films from Sproutflix:
- “Being Seen” is a funny, heart-wrenching, and candid reflection meant to shatter preconceptions of individuals labeled “disabled.”
- “Boys in the Boat” highlights two young rowers with diverse abilities who thrive on the companionship and routine that comes with being part of a team.
- “Extra Ordinary” offers a glimpse into the happy and fulfilling lives of two young individuals with Down syndrome.
- “Mise En Place” tells the story of Charlie, who works as a dishwasher in a high-end restaurant and finds her creativity constantly belittled by a coworker.
- “This Is Jim” celebrates the life of Jim, an individual with diverse abilities and a valued member of his community.
There will also be three films from the series Solo in the Wild: “Always Here,” “A Safe Place to Rest,” and “Let Go.” In this series performers with diverse abilities present their own creative responses to the beautiful woods of Pembrokeshire, Wales.
Three films will also be showcased from Bus Stop Films in Australia. Bus Stop Films has produced over 65 short films, many award winning, which feature individuals with diverse abilities.
From Bus Stop Films will come the following films:
- “Fences” is a science-fiction film in which a son sends an AI version of himself out to mend fences on the family property.
- “It Won’t Define Me” documents professional athletes overcoming challenges to pursue a career in sports.
- “Job Security” is a comedy about Ivan, who looking for his first job visits a recruitment agency called “Fair Go Recruitment,” only to find Fair Go isn’t that fair after all.
