Education/Training/Credentials:
PhD, University of California, Riverside
M.A., University of California, Riverside
B.A., Scripps College
Teaching Philosophy:
I have taught all levels of composition, as well as literature and film courses. Every quarter, I teach an online class, and I enjoy this mixture of face-to-face and digital classrooms. I like exploring innovative teaching styles such as learning communities and interdisciplinary practices. I am a faculty adviser for Phi Theta Kappa, the international honors society for two-year colleges. I am co-chair for Magic of Cinema, the college's film series, helping to bring some great films and directors to our school!
Research / Professional Interests:
My scholarly interests include contemporary American literature and poetry, women's literature, and trauma studies, a field that explores the ways we understand and represent violence within our culture and literature.
