Washington Women in Need (WWIN) is a nonprofit organization that provides education and health care grants to low-income women in Washington State to help them improve their lives. WWIN makes grants to determined women who are looking to build a better future for themselves, their families, and their communities for generations to come.
WWIN Star Scholars are selected grantees who are in their first year of a two-year academic program and their first or second year of a four-year academic program. Star scholars receive up to $5,000 each year of their college careers, up to $20,000 over four years.
Application Deadline will be in April, 2025.
Applicant Eligibility:
- You identify as a woman
- You will be 18 years of age or older as of September 1, 2025
- You lived in Washington State as a resident for the last 12 months
- You are a United States citizen, permanent resident, refugee, asylee or current DACA recipient.
- You have submitted your FAFSA or WASFA and have received your Student Aid Report (SAR)
- You are enrolled at or admitted into a college or university approved by the Washington College Grant for the academic year. Eligible schools can be found here.
- You are working towards an Associate's degree, certificate, technical degree, or your first Bachelor's degree.
- Your cumulative GPA is at or above 2.0
- You demonstrate financial need towards your Cost of Attendance
Apply Online:
- Valid Washington State Driver’s License or Washington State ID Card
- Social Security Card or Permanent Resident Card (Green Card). It is acceptable to cover the first few digits for your protection.
- Your Submission Summary with Student Aid Index (previously called the Student Aid Report & EFC), which you receive after submitting the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or Washington Application for State Financial Aid (WASFA)
Most recent tax return (IRS Form 1040) or Verification of Non-filing Letter. If someone else claimed you as a dependent, this must include their tax return.
Verification of enrollment or acceptance at an approved Washington college or university – See Eligibility Criteria for approved schools.
Your most recent unofficial transcript (high school or college)
Your official Financial Aid Award Letter from the school you will be attending — This is the only document that can be submitted after the application deadline, but your application cannot be considered until it is received.
