Frequently Asked Questions
How do I register for a CE class?
You can visit our course catalog.
How late can I register for a CE class?
Registration closes 1-3 days before the class begins, so we have time to process your payment and email you a confirmation and information about your class. If the class does not have enough students enrolled three business days before the class begins, we might need to reschedule or cancel the class. So please register in advance!
What is the minimum number of students required for a CE class to run?
Minimum enrollment varies from class to class. Community Education makes every effort to plan classes in such a way that they can run even with a small number of students. It is important, however, that you do not wait until the last minute to register. Classes with low enrollment may be rescheduled or canceled and your registration could be the one that allows the class to run.
Is the school closed due to bad weather or emergencies?
School Closures will be posted on Peninsula College’s website and Community Ed will try to reschedule the class.
I’m having trouble registering on your website. Who can I contact for CE assistance?
Please email communityed@pencol.edu or (360) 417-5683.
How do I drop a class that I am registered in?
Please complete a drop request form. You can also email communityed@pencol.edu or (360) 417-5683 for assistance.
Peninsula College issues refunds in the original payment type. Course fee refunds will be given as follows:
- If a course is cancelled by Community Education, the student will receive a complete refund.
- If a student withdraws three (3) business days prior to the first class session, the student will receive a complete refund.
- If a student withdraws less than three (3) business days prior to the first class session, the student will not be refunded.
- If the student does not attend class, the student will not be refunded.
- If the student stops attending class, the student will not be refunded.
Do you offer any type of payment plan or scholarships for CE classes?
Unfortunately, financial assistance is usually from federal funds and is reserved for credit-based and degree-based programs and therefore is NOT applicable for Community Education classes and programs. We are not able to offer any type of payment plan, though we do take most credit cards. If you are eligible for unemployment benefits, please contact your local office to determine your eligibility. Peninsula College has grant funds available for Commercial Driver's License (CDL) classes.
I have to miss a few CE class sessions. Can I pay for just the sessions that I will attend?
We are unable to prorate classes, so the full class fee is required for registration regardless of attendance.
Can I get college credit for CE classes?
No, our classes are not for credit. Some classes offer continuing education units, clock hours, badges or certificates upon completion.
Can I audit a CE class or get a senior discount?
Community Education classes are not eligible for audit or discounts.
Can I bring my child to a CE class with me?
Children of any age, including infants, are not allowed in Community Education classes unless the class is specifically designed for children. We also ask that you not let your child roam the college campus unattended as it can be very disruptive to the learning process and is unsafe for your child.

Frequently Asked Questions about Customized Training
What is customized training?
Peninsula College can customize course curricula to the specific needs and concerns of your business or organization. Workshops and courses are taught in a standard lecture and/or hands-on format with plenty of time for questions. Groups can be as small as five people.
What kind of training do you provide?
We provide training in a wide variety of subject areas. If you do not find the topic you are interested in among our current customized training or open enrollment classes, please give us a call. Many of our instructors can provide training on topics that are not listed. If we don't already offer the curriculum that matches your specific needs, we can create new content geared toward your business.
Where do training take place?
Training can be presented on one of Peninsula College’s campuses or at your own facility. We offer day, evening, and weekend classes, and can supply books, coffee, and catering (on campus), and certificates of completion for participants.
How long is the training?
Training duration can vary depending on your need. Following an initial meeting, we will give a proposal that includes a suggested training overview, amount of time, and structure.
How much does customized training cost?
Following the initial consultation, our training specialist will give a training proposal, including projected expenses. Customized training is frequently less expensive than enrolling in our open enrollment sessions. In most cases, not only is the per-person cost lower but the value of the training increases since we can focus on the precise skills and topics your business wants. In many cases, we can incorporate examples from your company into the training, allowing for the actual application of topics learned in class.
Do I have to be a company to use your personalized training services?
We do not require our customers to have a business in order to benefit from specialized training. We can train local clubs, community groups, and charitable organizations. If you are not employed by a company, government agency, or nonprofit organization, we will request payment before the program begins.
