This is the most fun you'll ever have at a fun run. Family entertainment at it's best, but also a great challenge for athletes! Navigate obstacles, including three giant inflatables, crawl through mud, run through foam, and try to outrun zombies lurking in zombie zones throughout a 2-mile course. You'll pick up flags along the way - and the zombies will try to take them. Finish "alive" with a flag, and win a medal. If you're one of the walking dead, duck into the first aid tent for a zombie antidote to finish alive and win a medal. The zombies promise to try to be less scary to young children. Check in between 11 and 11:50, racing starts at noon. We plan to leave the inflatables up for all (registered or not) to play on after the race.
This is a great team-building event for sports teams, businesses, clubs, leadership teams, etc. Contact Rick Ross at rross@pencol.edu for a special team rate.
Rates May 1 through Race Day: Adults $40, 17-under $15, PC students $15. Families of 3 or 4 $75 ($15 for each additional member).
⚠️ EMERGENCY BROADCAST ALERT ⚠️
This is not a drill. Please don’t panic, but you have registered to participate in the Pirate Zombie Mud Run. You are in grave danger of having a great time. Here are some things you should know:
- Park in the front lot and enter campus through the main entry where the arches are.
- Check in to get your bib number between 10:45-11:45. If someone wants to join who hasn’t pre-paid, they can pay on site.
- Feel free to take photos with our zombies prior to the race starting.
- We’ll have T-shirts for sale at $15 each (our cost $14.80).
- We’ll also have a BBQ hot dog lunch (hot dog, chips, drink) at the finish line available for $7.
- Restrooms are in the foyer of the gymnasium.
- Race instructions will be delivered at 11:50.
- Starting at noon, we will send out runners in groups of 4-8 every few minutes. Runners may be staged with the fastest groups going out first. It is not, however, a timed race.
- You will go through an inflatable obstacle and then into the gym where you will go to center court and put on a belt of flags. You will exit the gym from the main entry foyer and continue on the course.
- Follow the yellow cones around a 2-mile obstacle course. Participants should conquer all of obstacles, but if you, or someone in your party, is unsure about navigating an obstacle, we’d rather you skipped it than hurt yourself. Several obstacles involve crawling and you will get dirty. It’s a mud run, so don’t skip those. 😊
- You will encounter about 7 zombie zones, each 40 yards long, where zombies will chase you and try to get one of your flags. For your own safety, do not run into the bushes. Also, PLEASE do not swat, poke, punch or kick the zombies, or guard your flags. Zombies are people too, they’re just dead people.
- Should the zombies get all of your flags, stop by the First Aid Tent just before the finish line and drink an antidote to finish alive.
- Every participant who finishes alive will receive a medal.
- Photos of the event will appear on the Peninsula College Facebook and Instagram pages soon after the event. Feel free to download and share.
- After the last group has finished, participants and on-lookers are welcome to play on the inflatables, enjoy a hot dog, etc.
What to bring?
- Towel
- Water
- Card or cash for T-shirt/food
- Camera (although several obstacles involve water)
Stay safe. Stay organized. Trust no one!!!!!!!!!!!!
