Fish Wars • Film Screening at 10:00 am in The Little Theater
Join us for a screening of the film Fish Wars followed by a dialogue with Professor Corey Larson of The Native Pathways Program at The Evergreen State College and Willie Frank, III, former chairman of the Nisqually Tribe and son of Billy Frank, Jr.
The film, Fish Wars, includes rare historical footage and interviews, reflecting the immense efforts that led to a landmark decision in 1974, which protects the treaty rights and ensures access to the Usual and Accustomed places. This film was produced by Northwest Treaty Tribes Media and North Forty Productions, and it is optional for students enrolled in the Studium Generale class.
The dialogue, which our two honored guests have called “Weaving Together Seven Generations,” will draw on elements of the film as well as other important legal, cultural, and educational understandings. Join us to learn together and to celebrate the legacy of all who fought in the fish war and all who continue to advocate.
This opportunity is co-sponsored with ʔaʔk̓ʷustəƞáwt̓xʷ House of Learning, Peninsula College Longhouse and Magic of Cinema.
Join us at 12:35 pm in The Little Theater on the main campus of Peninsula College or join us on Zoom. Meeting ID: 834 3095 5029
