Important FAFSA Updates
Thursday, June 20, 2024
The Financial Aid Office has begun processing applications for the 2024–2025 aid year, after many months of delays due to technical issues with the updated FAFSA and ctcLink. The Financial Aid Office has sent notifications to students for whom we have received an application to the email address on file with the college.
Currently, Financial Aid is continuing to prioritize students enrolled in the summer quarter. Once we have awarded students enrolled in summer, we will begin working on all other students. Students do not need to complete the Financial Aid Summer Enrollment form to indicate their enrollment in summer courses.
Please note that students who have submitted a financial aid application to Peninsula College will be held in their summer courses while we determine their aid eligibility.
To check your financial aid status, please check the ctcLink Financial Aid Tile within your Student Portal.

Despite the FAFSA delays this year, our financial aid office will begin awarding Peninsula College students using a manual review process.
What does this mean?
Instead of relying solely on the FAFSA data, and our established computer-aided processes, we will manually assess each student's financial aid application to determine their eligibility for aid.
How will that work?
To streamline this process and address immediate needs, we will prioritize awarding financial aid for students attending summer quarter.
If you are planning to attend classes this summer, please complete the Financial Aid Summer Enrollment Form.
What if I’m not taking summer classes?
Financial aid will be processed as usual for students planning to attend fall quarter. We are committed to ensuring that all students receive fair and equitable assistance, regardless of their enrollment status.
Will I be dropped from my classes?
No. We will hold all students who have submitted a FAFSA, and are eligible for aid, in their classes until we have determined their award status. This means you will not be dropped from classes for non-payment during this time.
I’m taking summer classes. When can I expect to hear from the financial aid office?
Peninsula College has been told by the State Board of Community and Technical Colleges that ctcLink will be ready for us to begin processing 2024-25 financial aid applications on June 10. After June 10, the financial aid office will be working as quickly as possible to review and award summer financial aid to students.
Students will receive a message in mid-June letting them know we’ve received their financial aid information. The financial aid office will also be notifying students by email of any documents students may need to submit to complete their financial aid application.
Students can check their financial aid status on their ctcLink profile after mid-June, as well.
What do I do if I still have questions?
Our financial aid office is here to assist you.

How is the Washington Application for State Financial Aid (WASFA) Impacted?
The Washington Application for State Financial Aid (WASFA) is for people who do not file a FAFSA. In general, a person should complete the WASFA if they are a Washington resident and undocumented or do not qualify for federal financial aid because of their immigration status.
- Follow Washington Student Achievement Council’s WASFA website for additional resources.
