- Honors Course Sequence
As students pursue their AA or AS transfer degrees, they also enroll in a series of Honors courses as electives that apply to their degree requirements. As all Honors students take these courses, they move towards completion of their degree as a group – cohort – sharing in a common collaborative educational experience.
The First Year of Study
Fall Quarter
- Applications accepted to the Honors Program (students may also apply during winter quarter).
Winter Quarter
- IS 150: Foundations of Knowledge. Students learn how knowledge is pursued in different academic disciplines and how to integrate that knowledge using multiple perspectives of understanding. Course includes theme-based readings and discusssionsdiscussions on important ideas. 5 credit hours.
Spring Quarter
- Honors 160: Introduction to Honors Projects. Students are introduced to project work, develop an independent project, and are matched with a faculty mentor. 2 credit hours.
The Second Year of Study
Fall Quarter
- Honors 220: Honors Projects Seminar. In this bi-weekly seminar students share advancements in their project work and provide critical feedback to classmates. 1 credit hour.
- Honors 290: Students enroll in Honors Projects, or a 290 projects course in an appropriate academic discipline, for 1 to 2 credits.
Winter Quarter
- Honors 221: Honors Projects Seminar. In this bi-weekly seminar students share advancements in their project work and provide critical feedback to classmates. 1 credit hour.
- Honors 290: Students enroll in Honors Projects, or a 290 projects course in an appropriate academic discipline, for 1 to 2 credits.
Spring Quarter
- Honors 250: The Honors Capstone. Students complete their project work, including a public presentation in an appropriate venue, an essay using integrated knowledge to assess their project and a video production where they reflect upon their general education experience. Course meets weekly for two hours. 2 credit hours.
Commencement – Students, having successfully demonstrated their dedication towards the advancement of knowledge are awarded an Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree with Honors.
