A need for Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) in Port Towsend has spawned a partnership between Peninsula College and Jefferson Healthcare to help fill workforce vacancies.
CNA students will learn basic nursing skills, how to assist in activities of daily living, and safe patient handling in the classes which will run Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 4:00 – 8:00 pm fall quarter at the Peninsula College Fort Warden campus and Jefferson Healthcare Education Lab.
Peninsula College Dean for Workforce Education, Mia Boster, said the program is currently looking for a skilled instructor.
“We are looking for an RN with an active unrestricted license,” she said. “They must have a minimum of one year experience, within the past three years, in caring for the elderly, chronically ill, or both.”
Fall quarter begins at Peninsula College on September 25.
