How Do I Qualify?
- Be registered as a junior or senior at a Washington state public high school.
- Be under the age of 21.
- Qualify for college-level English and/or math through an approved alternative placement or by taking a placement test. College-level math placement is not required for admission to the program; however, students who plan to enroll in math courses through Running Start must place at college-level math on the college placement test.
Home-schooled students should contact their district office to complete the appropriate paperwork. Students attending private schools must be evaluated at the junior or senior level by a public high school official and enroll at that school. Students may also continue to take classes at a private school.
Students who have passed the GED may enroll through their high schools and be eligible for the Running Start program until age 21.
