The Tutoring Center provides academic support and tutoring for your PC courses. While we care deeply about the well-being of our students, our tutors are not trained to provide academic advising or mental health counseling services.
For advising services, please visit Plan with Your Advisor | Peninsula College (pencol.edu)
For information on mental health counseling services, please visit PC Cares - (pencol.edu)
Tutoring is a collaborative, interactive process that requires equal participation from the student and the tutor.
Tutor Responsibilities:
- Show up on time ready to work.
- Accommodate students’ preferred learning style and learning goals.

- Answer questions about course content.
- Explain or demonstrate useful strategies, processes, and approaches.
- Facilitate student learning.
Student Responsibilities:
- Show up on time ready to work.
- Come prepared by completing your reading and looking at your learning resources, looking over assignments, and having specific questions or goals to address in the tutoring session.
- Attend class, do all assigned reading, and review all assigned videos or other learning materials.
- Take responsibility for your own work; attempt class work on your own before the tutoring session and expect to continue working after your session ends to complete all class work.
If you receive services from the Services for Students with Disabilities (SSD) office and you need tutoring accommodations, please ask the SSD office to share your accommodation plan for tutoring with the Learning Center Coordinator.
Reading and Research Tutoring
As part of our mission to support student success, the Tutoring Center is excited to assist students (individuals and/or classes!) with research and reading. Our goal is to provide students with comprehensive support as they access information, learn from outside sources, and create original responses.
Students may use the scheduling link to Schedule Research & Reading Tutoring in the Library Learning Center or via Zoom.
Instructors may email Tim Williams, our Instruction and Reference Librarian, at twilliams@pencol.edu to schedule group or class sessions to support your students.
