Join us for High Mountain Lakes Response to Shifting Climate with Bill Baccus, climate ecologist at Olympic National Park, and Dr. Steve Fradkin, a coastal ecologist and limnologist at Olympic National Park, as they present about the importance of mountain lakes. In an ecology that is only ice-free for about five months each year, lakes offer a unique area of study. Our guests will present information from long-term datasets and offer analysis as well as an opportunity for questions and answers.

View MoreWriter in Residence Caroline Fraser was born in Seattle. She holds a Ph.D. from Harvard University in English and American literature. Formerly on the editorial staff of The New Yorker, she is the author of three nonfiction books, the Pulitzer Prize-winning Prairie Fires: The American Dreams of Laura Ingalls Wilder, God's Perfect Child: Living and Dying in the Christian Science Church, and Rewilding the World: Dispatches from the Conservation Revolution, all published by Metropolitan Books.

Navigate obstacles, including three giant inflatables, crawl through mud, run through foam, and try to outrun zombies lurking in zombie zones throughout a 2-mile course. You'll pick up flags along the way - and the zombies will try to take them. Finish "alive" with a flag, and win a medal. If you're one of the walking dead, duck into the first aid tent for a zombie antidote to finish alive and win a medal.
